IISLogger 1.0 Released
Grossrinderfeld, 2003-12-12
IISLogger is a tool for in-depth logging of IIS activity. "We are pleased to release
this highly specialised tool.", says president Rainer Gerhards, "It provides insight into IIS' operation and can be used to track
things that otherwise can't be seen. For example, we can detect incoming worms whom's requests
will never be logged in the regular log files."
IISLogger is a tightly integrated ISAPI filter emiting log data via syslog on (configurable)
multiple IIS workflow events. As such, you can receive notification for example for each http request
begin and end. The IIS logs, in contrast, log only request that have been fully completed. As such, the
may not include data on (eventually malicous) requests that caused IIS to run in a tight loop.
Besides production use, IISLogger can also be used to learn more about IIS' inner processing.
The free 30-day trial version is most probably sufficent for this use (there is a lot you can learn in
30 days).
A free, full-featured 30 day trial version is available now.
